About SDCA

Eric + Sharla Boatright are the founders of Sons & Daughters, Inc. which is a non-denominational ministry. Sons + Daughters Academy (birth-pre-k) and Sons + Daughters Christian Academy (K-2nd) are the schools for which they operate under Sons & Daughters, Inc. Sharla Boatright has been serving families in early education for over 15 years. She has provided care for families through her home and public childcare centers. "My passion is children! Shaping their minds and hearts is something I love to do." Eric Boatright, has been serving families and children with her, off and on for the past 10 years. Eric is a wonderful leader and has a passion for children and teaching them who they are. "We have to pull the gold out of every child and show them their worth!" 

 

A word from the principals: Roughly 10 or so years ago our son Zach was in 2nd grade at a public school. He began getting bullied and we spoke to the principals multiple times. The administration did absolutely nothing. After that year, we decided to bite the bullet and pay for private education for both him and my daughter who would soon be entering pre-k. We knew private education was going to be more of a quality setting for both our children, and we knew without a doubt they would get the quality education they deserved.

 

It wasn’t long after that, we noticed our son excelling in academics. We knew then, we had made the right choice. During our time at this school, we went to a grand opening for their new location, and that night God clearly spoke to my husband and I, that we would one day open a private school.  We had no clue what it meant, how it would happen, what to do, or where the funds would come from. We gave it to God and waited for His time and direction.

 

in 2016 we were called to VA for ministry, still with the love of children and youth on our hearts, and still with the prayer that one day God would somehow open the door for private school. Slowly He began to show us things. The how to’s and the know how’s of what it would take to embark upon such an amazing journey. At the end of 2019, after 3 years of home daycare in Shenandoah County, He opened the door for us to publicly open a daycare facility in Woodstock. Less than 3 years later here we are opening K-2nd with 3rd-12th soon to follow.

 

We know the unfortunate direction that public school is heading in. While we can’t change that, we can provide a quality, safe space for children to learn as they should be. We don’t just mean learning academics, but also teaching character building, identity, and learning how to walk in faith and confidence. Our goal isn't just to teach these students how to be amazing adults, but we want to build a lifelong relationship with each and every student that walks through our doors. Leaving a positive mark o their hearts is a must.
